I have a Emachines T5010 (its ok you can laugh) i just recently bought a ATI radeon X1300 (256mb) i had tryed to play css on my machine before and it was HORRIBLE i couldnt even move.. I had also tried to play hl2 and it lagged but i could deal with the lag being a hl2 nut. but anyways i bought the card to play css and hl2.the card ran Hl2 alot better but i still get a little lag and and in css it ran the game fine or so i thought untill everyone was complaining about how bad i was lagging... i only have 512 of ram. i was thinking about buying another 512 stick.. would it be worth it? do i even need it? im working with limited funds here.. lol or could the lag be caused by my internet connection? (you can tell i dont know much about computers) i have wireless internet. (clearwire) any help would be awesome thanks..

An x1300 should have no problem running hl2/cs:s at high settings. If you haven't already, check to make sure you have the latest drivers for it. They can make a big difference. You should be able to get by on 512 but you would see a decent performance boost from adding another stick. The wireless internet is most likely your biggest bottleneck, however. Frankly, wireless sucks for gaming or anything that requires constant fast updating.

yeah idk that i have the latest drives. the card makes the game look AWESOME tho. thanks for the help though

If this is your system spec http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-E-Machines-eMachines-Desktop-PC-T5010~r-1~CLT-INTR~RFR-www.google.com yes you can buy one more 512MB dual-channel PC3200 modules....
lagging on Wireless is usually the case in MP, and it depends on how far you are away from your connection point (Gateway), the father the biggest. As far as SP is concern; see if you can do some PC maintenance by running Disk defragmenter, minimizing background running programs (Since you are limited on RAMS) close as much background programs as you can. Also get the latest Graphic driver for your video card not the one in the CD video card came with, there is more likely recent update driver, so visit ATI website

Good Luck.

defiantly need anothor stick of 512mb ram. Wireless internet isnt bad at all; ive had no problems with it.

ok well valve says that the minimum for hl2 and css is 256mb ram and the recomended is 512.. so why is everyone saying that i need 1gig? i mean i understand that i need it but why does valve say that u only need 512? i would think that thier recommended requirments would run the game smoothly i have lag with 512 id hate to play with 256, why does valve do this?

wireless is a pain....if its not slow it is constantly searching for wireless networks thus pausing your connection

You need 512 for the game to look decent, but to play the game flawlessly, you'll see the difference with 1 gig of ram. Trust me, I was in your position, except I had a 9600XT
