HL2 Deathmatch / other mods wont work on vista?

this is what happens when i open HL2 deathmatch.
awesome. :dozey:
the same happens with all the source games except half life 1 source, and Half Life 2.


any suggestions?

Well the issue seems to be cause by the shaderapidx9.dll. Look here for the official steam response to this problem

Have you made sure your graphic card drivers are up to date
You you running 32bit Vista or 64bit Vista.

im runnin a 32bit.
im about to restart the computer after making some changes

its still giving me that problem, and i've already done the steam troubleshooting :/

i changed the theme.

well the games still aren't working. reinstalling steam i guess.

i reinstalled steam and now im getting this.

Error...steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load library steam.dll
