HL2- Entanglement crash

Hi everyone.

I'm deep into 'entanglement' in HL2. When i reach a particular autosave 'loading' screen checkpoint, the game freezes. A prompt shows up saying that i have to return to windows. The save point is in the section where alex is helping you via the monitors. I threw a grenade in a room to disable the shield, past two gun turrets, walked down a dimly lit corridor, and then BOOM.....game dies.

Whats the deal?

It sounds like you're actually where I am at the moment (on this run through).

I don't know what's wrong with it, as I've not had any problems with it, personally.

What are your specs?

Do you have Steam? Post your PC specs too.

yeah i've got steam- and i think that might be part of the problem. I read on the steam FAQ site that the windows firewall has the potential to disallow steam...and thus crash HL2 at certain points. I'm in the process of testing the theory of allowing Steam.exe and hl2.exe past the firewall.
