HL2 Ep 2, Portal, and TF2 Crash

This is either due to a bug in Valve code or driver issues by Nvidia or both. I cannot play the new releases from Valve yet their older games (Hl2, episode 1, and CS source) run perfect as do all my other games in my library. Any news regarding an update on either end would be greatly appreciated as I cannot enjoy any of these games due to their crashing my system after minutes of gameplay. Is there still such a thing as product testing???

System:
2.6 ghz P4
1.50 MB DDR Ram
512 MB Nvidia 7600 OS

What sort of crash is it do you get do you get an error message does the sound loop?

If it's the looping sound crash, then try uninstalling AVG (closing the processes doesn't work for some reason) if you have it. Completely got rid of the problem for me and many others.

looping sound crash?

looping sound crash? sounds like my problem. have a new 8800 GTS card...and half life 2 deathmatch keeps kicking me out to the desktop. the sound certainly gets freaking. usually i'm able to click back on the half life 2 and get back into my game. other times i have to completely reboot. any help? I do not run AVG.
