HL2: Episode 1

Well, I just bought episode 1 yesterday after beating HL2, I bought it on steam and I had played probability 15 minutes or so before having to get off because I had a dr appt in the morning. When I tried to fire it up today I get the valve guy and then a quick backdrop of HL2: Episode 1 then I get CTD with HL2.EXE something something. This happened as I also switched it to wide screen mode as I have a wide screen monitor. I have uninstalled threw windows and steam, re downloaded it and it still will not fix. I also have all my drivers up to date
My pc specs are
Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD 64 dual core 4200~ each CPU running at 2.2GHz
ATI Radeon X1600 512mb PCI-E
2558MB ram.

I'm sorry, I cannot help, but I find it amusing that people with fully awesome computers still get pwned by HL2 or Ep1.

vista may be the problem but im sure you can find answers on the steam powered forums.
