Taito Inc. plans to make available the arcade version of Half Life 2 in
Summer of 2005. At this time, cost of the system, and cost per play have not yet been decided.

Half Life 2 is the latest in the series of Windows based FPS Halfife games developed by Valve. The Windows version of Halflife 2 will be
available on November 17th (from CyberFront) in Japan, and on sale
in the US and and Europe on the 16th. With impressively amazing graphics, its already grabbed the spotlight before even going on sale.

Taito is developing its version for use on its Type X exclusive arcade system. The Type X system is equipped with Windows XP Embedded
, so it can take advantage of the development environment used for the Windows version of the game.

The Windows version of the game is already designed from the ground up to be modifiable, so in addtion to the sigle play mode, the underlying system needed to add a version that supports a large numbers of players from around the country competing in a "battle mode" , and at the same time, a large number participating in a "mission mode" is already in place.

The networking system to be used, NESYS (Net Entry System) is already currently in use for games like "Battle Gear 3" and "Zoid Infinity".

The data from each game is stored on a central server, so you can play from any arcade machine anywhere in the country.

The cabinet will have a cockpit type layout, with widescreen
display and 5.1 stereo sound to pull you in, so you can really enjoy
the game. The type of controller to be used has not been decided at this time.

With the Windows version of Halflife 2 soon to becoming popular around the world, the new version being developed by Taito
will help get the ball rolling with an eye on capturing a global market.
