FiringSquad has another great article with Graphic card performance on different Athlon XP models, in HL2.

Check it out

Oh that's nice...I'm waiting for a 6800GT to arrive to complement my xp2800+ and it appears to have been a wise choice:-D (like I wouldn't do any research before I order a new card hehe)

I don't run games at 16x12, btw. ATi cards reign supreme in HL2, my @ss...

N1 Asus :)

That's just what i've been looking for.

It's convinced me to save a little longer and get an X800 XT.

ATI cards were made for HL2, they are faster for it.

ati x800xt platinum edition

Does anybody know where i can find the ati x800xt platinum edition. Everywhere i look they seem to be out of stock wont get cards in till new years day. Please help i want to play half life 2.

Good article thanks,

Is it worth buying the x800XT when it costs so much, or wait for the prices to fall with ATI come out with something new (and how long is it til they do?)?.

I think my 9800 pro will be okay for another 6 months atleast...

can someone explain to me why does the 6800 ultra lose to a x800 pro when the 6800 ultra is running on a axp 3200 and the x800 pro on a 2100. Because that is just sad.

I would have liked to see more maps then canals.

You seem to forget that there are other games in which something very similar happens, X800Pro beating a 6800Ultra on the same system. Although they are rare.

I'm sure other levels are different but not this one.

Ya but this is completly different. In most games the 6800 ultra would beat the x800 pro and then you add in the fact that the 6800 ultra is using a cpu that is rated to be 1100 faster then the one the x800 pro is using then the 6800 ultra should waste the x800 pro. Should it not?

They use completely different architectures so the results are not impossible. I have not seen any other Athlon XP benchmarks like these between the X800 and 6800 on other highend DX9 games so we don't really know what's up.
