HL2: Gold Edition / Silver edition speculations

Well, hello.

I don't think this have been posted yet, but here's the deal anyway.

If you order the Gold or Silver edition of HL2 @ Steam, you will get DOD: Source when aviable.


If you have bought CS:CZ or an ATi Voucher, you're able to play Counter-Strike: Source BETA, right?

So my speculation is: Buy HL2 Gold / Silver edition to get your hands on DOD: Source Beta! aka, you will be able to beta test DOD: Source, when the others can not.


I bet DOD: Source will be free, also CS: Source and other mods that Valve is remaking, but if you want to test the mods out, you have to buy hl2 gold edition or silver edition.

So if you buy a HL2 package from Steam, you will be able to play CS Source at the time your purchase is done.

THIS IS MY SPECULATION, AND I BLOODY THINK I AM RIGHT .

So what's your thoughts?

DoD:S will not be free, its one of the selling points of the more expensive packages.

Also I dont think there will be a DoD:S beta. I'mn not saying its not possible, but CS:S beta was mainly to stress test the source engine to fix engine bugs that also related to HL2.

DoD:S isn't DoD. DoD is a free modification avavible for download but requiers HL to run. DoD:S is a new modification which runs on the HL2 engine and is not free.

As switch said, its not free; its part of the more expencive packages. Therefore you're paying for it.

As for the beta theory,. well, thats just speculation isn't it. It seems quite possible, but really its up to VALVe to decide if thats the way they want to go.

I'm buying the Gold package. But not for DOD,. I could care less about DOD. I just want the crap.

The DoD team is now employed by valve, same as the CS team.
Valve are charging for CS:s so why do you think they wont for DoD:s?
