Hl2 key not good enough for the beta?

Should the Hl2 key be allowed in the beta?

  • Yes. I've already paid for the game and its mods, why shouldn't I get to use it.

Just interested in what people think about having a Valid HL2 key (from the coupons) which can't be used to play a beta of a mod which is supposedly free with hl2.

Actually owning a HL2 key I feel its a bit of a slap in the face. Especially as I've had this key for near a year now and all its been doing is collecting dust on my shelf.

Well CZ i dont think sold that well, so Valve is making it up to the community!

Never thought about that for some reason, but yeah! I have my HL2 key, why in the name of Moses can't I get the beta ( I have CZ anyway, but hey! )

Cause you have access to the Half-Life suite of games until Half-Life 2's release. I'm not making excuses for Valve, I thought that cupon customers should be part of the beta as well, but that is probably their reason.

Jesus christ people, CZ costs around $20.

Buy the game, and stop giving in your complaints about this, Valve wont change the fact that only CZ users will play the beta.

Unless they keep whining 24/7, maybe they'll cave in...

That's a good point. But it's VALVe's way of selling more copies of Condition Zero, and so far it actually has been working, so I would say it's a good idea.

Well this poll wasn't made to swing things our way or to whinge on tbh.

Just a simple vote over what you think about having a valid HL2 Key which can't be used to beta test a Hl2 mod.

And yeah I think we all agree that its a good idea by Valve.

Screw CZ! That game was the worst game I have ever played. It wasn't even worth it.
They just wanted a little extra money so in two weeks they made this with the old engine which sucked ass.

well... from the Doug Lombardi interview.. theres a question about HL2 and CS:Source's availability.. and i believe (and please correct me if im wrong) Doug said HL2 and CS:Source will be available at the same time.. im thinking they are readying CS:Source in time for a Collectors Edition packaging.. or some such..

anyway.. after reading that interview.. this poll does not make sense.. especially if HL2 and CS:Source will be available at the same time.

I don't know how you missed it, but in the very same interview, he said CS:S will be included with HL2.

err.. yeah.. i thought in that interview he might have been hinting at the Collectors Edition during that question.

i didn't want to speculate on that...so thats why i just kinda said what i said..anyway its still un-clear on whether CS:Source will only be part of the Collectors Edition or will it be included with normal SP + MP version of HL2.

Well, considering this was confirmation of what was already said in the first CS:S footage from Germany's PC Games, I doubt it'll be a CE only thing.

hmm.. its still hard to say either way since details for everything MP related are still so sketchy..

it still won't affect me personally.. cause i am getting the Collectors Edition.. it might however affect those who can't afford the Collectors Edition or don't want it but still want CS:Source.

i guess pple desparate enough will just buy CS:Source separately if it came to that.

I'm really gonna wait to see what's in the CE before buying. Should games like CS:S and DOD:S be included, I'll get it right away ofcourse ;)

The thing is they promised the HL2 coupon owners the mods, they didn't say anything a beta so technically they're clear.
