HL2 LAN Games and Steam

Ok, so I go and buy HL2 "GOLD" package on Steam. Some of my friends do too. Then we decide to go and play some MP games at a LAN party with no Internet.

Will Steam let us play on LAN without Internet?

yes...but you must not logout from steam...then you are not abled to play in offline mode

I really dislike the fact that I have to "authorize" with steam if I want to play a game I paid for without the net. What happens if your at a LAN tourney and for some reason you get logged out? Your SOL thats what.

I think you'll find that once you have activated HL2 over the internet, you can start steam in offline mode and play LAN games. Like you can now TBH.

Can you not get 1 computer hooked to the net and share the connection over the lan?

Not at a tourney where net access is not allowed =/ They should really change it so you do not need a login for offline mode.
