HL2 Modding Question

Hello, I wanted to make a button that was activated if the player takes out a specific item then "attacks" with it for instance swiping a card accross a button. I was not sure how to go about this, I have made models for both a card and card reader (box) with animations of a flashing motion of the card as the primary attack. In hammer I was unable to find out how to do a "trigger_multiple" and actually check if the character had this weapon/item his inventory and if his animation was the attack. My question is how could I make something like this work? Thanks =D
 
With a trigger multiple create a brush with the trigger texture taller than the player and as wide as you want, select it, press ctrl+t and set the properties. I have no idea about anything else though.
