For the longest time, since the begining, Valve cept their mouths shut when approached with any questions on what Half-Life 2 multiplayer would be like. All interviews that asked about it recieved 'no comment' and responses that more info about it would be released nearer the games release. Then later on I read interviews where Valve stated something along the lines of, "this is going to be big" when asked about the mutliplayer. And some employees interviewed said they play it often.
Now everyone was very excited about HL2:Multiplayer. The thought of enjoying HL online again with Gordon and his trusty crowbar smashing your opponents up with new features like the possibility of using the manipulator to throw objects at everyone, and even speculated abilitys like being able to control a strider and stomp around the town shooting everyone up, brought much excitment and anticipation.
Now recently to my dismay, I read the following in a recent interview with Doug Lombardi.
Computer Games Romania: Does Half-Life: Source include multiplayer as the original Half-Life did?
Doug Lombardi: Not at launch.
Please tell me this is a mistake. If HL2 is not comming with mutliplayer after all these years of waiting, and them giving it hype but being all silent about any info on it, I will be very annoyed and disapointed. They might as well rename the game HL1.5 if it is missing the multiplayer aspect!
Also, CS:Source does not count as HL2 Multiplayer, theres no Gordon, crowbars, striders, etc in CS:Source. Besides, I did not wait all these years just to play a more graphical version of the same old repetitive Counter-Strike with phsysics added. A mod team could have made that for HL2:Source in a few months if the community needed it that bad.
