HL2.net Invades our Glorious Capital - The Pitch

The purpose of this is to see if it would be worth the time and (possibly) money organising an almighty gathering/shindig/hootenanny in London (this is the first thing that's open for debate, doesn't have to be London but everyone knows where it is).

What I'm envisioning is a large mob of the people from these boards (I'd assume mostly the Brits, unless anyone would like to travel from further afield) running through the streets of our fair city, eating anyone they come across - 28 Days Later style-ee. Or, just getting horrendously merry and having a good time. Obviously, it wouldn't be limited to "Senior Members" or anything silly like that so anyone would be welcome, although it would be good if people were old enough to buy their own alcohol (or at least look like they're old enough to, and be able to get away with it 9 times out of 10 ). Of course, it's not limited to the alcoholics amoung us either, whatever people want to do really.

So, what is the general consensus? No talk of specific dates at the moment, because as I stated earlier, I'm just trying to get an idea of how amny pople and who would be up for it.

If the US guys want to organise something to run in conjunction that's fine, but I'm gauging a reaction for a UK based gathering.

Lan would be cool but it wont be cheap unless we hijack a gaming cafe for a weekend that'd be cool.

Pubbing is probably the next easiest thing to do, problem are peoples ages and travel.

I think a booked lannage would be uber, and then im sure the younger guys can come for a certain amount of money, i think its flat fee of £700 you can get this company to arrange the whole thing for you, venue, bar, technical/server etc support for a weekend... but i dont know how that'd be financed.

UKers... download (or copy) this image and edit it in paint to display your location. Once it's passed through everyone, we'll have a visual representation of where everyone is, and then we can arrange the best place to meet (it would probally still be London, but if we'd be doing a LAN... you never know). Even if we don't need it, it's still a good idea to see where all our favorite buddies are!
