The server isn't for HL2.net alone, I just have a little channel on it for hl2.net.

I got it a while back from typefrag for using it during CS and stuff. Nobody is really on it now, but it still works fine.

Ventrilo is just voice chat. But really high quality. www.ventrilo.com to download it.

I really don't care if you use it or not since I don't need it for anything.
So if anybody here wants to voice chat with other members feel free to get on it.

Hostname/IP: arsenic.typefrag.com
Port: 36418
Can hold 15 people.

I tried to get hl2.net people using ventrilo/teamspeak in the past.

Doesn't really matter to me. If anybody wants to, that's fine. If nobody cares for it, that's fine.

Could be fun, but very awkward to begin with. I once went into a 4chan vent server...

shit changed my life forever :o

hl2 chat has a voice channel.

Well 3 of out of 6 posts in this thread are by people on my ignore list. So I think not.

Looks at hl2.net steam group. Begin voice chat...

Really, since you can just make a Steam Chat with people and start voice that way, seems redundant. Thanks for the offer, though!

Yea, Steam VC works, but vent is a lot higher quality. But your choice anyway.

If Steam chat works that is :)

We used the channel two days ago. Came in very handy. Thanks dude.

Yeah, it worked well, except for some reason, vent has been very.......weird lately. I'd say it's just me, but a couple of friends have said it happens to them also.

There will be a long stretch of silence. You're asking questions, talking, etc. Out of nowhere, 5 minutes later, everything the other person has been saying to you just comes out in one long winded message. As if they saved it all for that one stretch.

WTF is up with that?

That would happen to me when my PC was freezing because of a game or something.

Haven't heard it in a while. You sure it's vent itself that's the problem?

Considering it never happens to Teamspeak or Steam Voice Chat, I'd have only one thing that does it. To be fair, I am playing games whenever I'm on Vent, and that's the only time it's been happening....but it's not like my computer is struggling. Usually when I'm playing EVE Online, and that is hardly very intensive.

I think TS works a bit differently, in that it takes CPU priority. Ventrilo probably is passive and will let other things take priority and so will become inactive when your system is loaded.

Though, I guess it isn't that, because of what you're saying.

That same thing happened to hammer and I in a couple different Vent servers, none of which the HL2net server.

Been using the vent tonight while playing BC2. It's weird it doesn't register my push to talk bind when vent isn't focused (BC2 full screen). Kind of makes VOIP pointless. I couldn't find a fix, anyone else have a similar problem?

Hmmm, I wonder if it's something like that. The more I'm thinking, when I alt tab out of the game and click on Vent, that's when the shit starts to get said finally...

hmmmm, the plot thickens.

Probably just needs a restart...I'll do that asap. I'll edit this post when I have.

EDIT: Server restarted. I'll see what else I can do. If that problem is still there it might be clientside.
Alright, restarted the server, and I hit my talk bind while playing a bit of TF2. Seemed to work for me.

I'm pretty sure it's not a server-side problem. That wouldn't really make sense.

Just to be sure: did you start-up Ventrilo before or after you booted up BC2?
