When I try and load HL2 the steam window comes up and says "preparing to load half-life2..." and then if crashes and I get an error like so:

thanks for any help I really want to play :'(
(ps my friend bought the orange box and sent me the half-life 2 because I didn't have it. Also this is a brand new computer and I think I updated all the drivers properly (nvidia, latest direct x etc) but a checklist would be nice if you think that might be a problem)
