HL2 not responding

6 days ago I tested HL2 on this computer (my brothers account) and everything seemed smooth, on the 3. day i played, the screen turned black just as the blurry "loading" screen came.

When I checked taskmanager HL2 was not responding.

Today I formatted my computer and installed windows again (for several reasons) and bought hl2 on my account. Hoping this would solve the problem, but it didn't.... So I have my own hl2 account, which DOES NOT WORK!!

Help anyone??

Sorry to say so, but i'm atleast glad i'm not alone.. that pretty much excludes hardware/user error...

I found a solution on a forum : some people says that in some cases, the last Nvidia Drivers (66.93, 67.02 beta, or Nvidia drivers OPTIMIZED for HL2 [sic!!] ) DOESN'T WORK, and they get the same problem as us (crash or quit after the ugly loading screen)...

You should try the previous driver 61.77 : http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77.html

It didn't work for me, but some people says it can work...

There's a lot of bug on he game, so we aren't the only one that cannot play !!!

OK I found another bug (on this forum...), the symptoms are not the same but I have the problem. Open the Steam monitor (in the steam menu) and you'll see the amount of acquiered data for the game... and for me it's not 100% !!!! (Even if when I installed it its says it was 100% ok...)

I have aquired 100% of HL2, and steam is not updating any game now.

I still have my problem.
