Apologies if already posted.

Old new post; unconfirmed:

http://www.vagusnet.com/news-item.php?intID=887

It seems that not only will Half Life 2 (released on the 18th November) be fully compatible with the Xbox 360, but also that the game has upgraded textures and features built in that will only become available when the game is played on an Xbox 360, in a similar manner to Halo 2.

Maybe yes, confirmation tomorrow:

Comment on how console owners would get a taste of HL2 on next-gen. Comment on controller can not play FPSes. Flaming of consoles.

Comment on how awesome this would be. Comment on how PC Gamers are stupid/biased and missing out.

'Middleman' comment which is always actually slanted to one side.

Disclaimer stating that I am not responsible if this is false news.

Well I'm certainly going to try to play it. If it doesn't work out, I can always stare at the nice graphics and shit.

Oh, and I believe one can always hook up a keyboard/mouse to the X360

If this is true, I'm 1 happy puppy

There, I said it.
I think Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Halo disagree with you.

Consoles dont have mice. FPS without mice makes baby Jesus cry.
End of conversation.

Hell, I'd play HL2 with chopsticks if I had to. Now stop bitching. This is a good rumour

I started out playing FPS'S on consoles, its all about getting used to the way they played etc, button layout, eventually it becomes fluant and fun, either way, im neutral about pc and consoles, i own all consoles and will own all next gen starting with the 360 and will more then likely get HL2 on it anyway, even if i do have it on pc :p

And I think all the FPS ever released or ported to PC agree with me.

Well there goes your theory. If FPS are ported from console to pc, they have been succesful on consoles, why else bother porting them at all

Cross out Halo and replace it with Timesplitters and we're about right.

But that is IT.

I like halo but meh, its all about opinion i suppose so gotta respect everyone elses :)

Yessir you can.

Halo can kiss my ass.
Yeah, I bloody despise Halo but figured I should include it since it's so popular.

the people that made the stupid comentaris
"OMFG FPS WHIOUT MICE IS TEH GAYZZORRX AND IT SUCKZZORX AND JESUS HATE IT SO MUCH SO FPS IN CONSOLES=GAYNES SUCKZZOR LOL"
sure havent even in the same room whit a console

and even if halo sucks the control suits well for the controller

they just like being in their closed ignorant world, where they can make fun of consoles, those who play them, the games and the controls so they can feel superior to someone since most of these people are pretty low in social status.

since one of the arguments you have about hl2 being better than halo (slightly off-topic, but always arises when you mindlessly bash consoles) is that it has puzzles and requires you to think (albeit how small that is), and halo doesn't (more lies, but ok, i'll agree for now). what about those of us who play and finish games like myst, riven, zork and so on, does that mean we are superior to you, and we can call you ugly, mindless and say you make baby jesus cry ?

.. lol :p i'm not being serious, but there are some points for you to think about before you go bash things, and also realise, people can easily do the same for pc's/those who use them/and so on.

Didn't most of us start out on consoles? Then again, I guess the kids these days might have gone straight to PC, but when I was a kid all we had were consoles (NES, SNES, Sega Genesis). Don't forget your roots. :|

The better way to word that would be 'You canot play FPS on a controller', because, look at the Nintendo Revolution. That would be far better to play a FPS on than even a mouse/keyboard. More precise, and more realistic.

Thats true, it is hugely popular overall. (Overrated!):cheese:

But that's still a controller.

I started out on PC, never ever owned a console. It's a bit ironic that the first FPS i played was the PC port of Halo though.

.. but you can play fps' with a controller, on a console, no matter how many times you say, or think it, it's not going to 'make it not work.'

i started out on a 386, playing nibbles and i've 'dabbled' in consoles (meaning, owning nearly all of them but preferring pc).

A mouse is a controller you dudikoffs. :O

Anywho, this the first I've heard of a console game that gets improved stuff when played on a next-gen system.
If it's true, it could be a big deal.

Perhaphs the best controller for an FPS might be a gun...?

...back on topic, as I have the only true answer to the console v. PC debate (and I'm not telling), I can picture better textures, but what features are they talking about that the console version will deliver that the PC version won't? (Free shot, by the way, for PC fanboys - make it funny).

What they mean is that the textures that were taken down (probably to 256x256) will now be back up to 512x512 like they are in the pc version.

And yes, HL2 will be playable on the 360, and Barbie Horse Adventure! But why Catwoman, I don't know.

Because crappy licensed games don't really push the evolope when it comes to the hardware, meaning that an emulator that functions off the standard MS api's will be highly likely to be able to run them; whereas something like Splinter Cell pushes the Xbox's hardware far beyond the standard API and is programmed right down to the metal which makes it harder to emulate as things tend to need to be specificly programmed for it.

If thats true, then this is going to be interesting.
