HL2 Preload Question

Hey All, I Have Started Pre Loading HL2 It Is At 6.1% But I Was Wondering..... Why Pre Load If When I Get My Copy Of HL2 From Amazon..... It Will Install Anyway?...... Can You Look At The Files Of Textures, Models,Scripts Etc?????
Because If Not, I Might Aswell Cancel And Let Someone Else Have A Go...

Isnt It So Very Very Anoying When People Capitalise The First Lettr Of Every Word.

If your getting it on CDs then you dont have to preload, but you could preload then put your key in if you want (you'd get to play it about 2 minutes earlier).

the preload is an encrypted file in the steam format (.gfc) you cant do anything with it beside looking at it sit silently in the dir.

if you purchase the retail game from the store, and you have it preloaded already.. its already installed. you merely input your store bought cd key into steam and you wont need to re-install.
