HL2 Shutsdown during autosave!

I'm troubleshooting this for my buddy, so i don't have the system info, but i don't think it matters cuz CS:S works fine.
Problem is, HL2 kicks him back to desktop whenever it attempts to autosave his current game.
Is there a setting in options to disable the autosave?
Any other suggestions?

From the console, assuming you have it enabled, enter sv_autosave 0 or put sv_autosave "0" in your config.cfg file.
