I just bought HL2 and CS:S from SteamPowered.com last night. Now I have them downloaded, but when I try to play HL2, I see the Valve logo and then a picture of a blurry city with the word loading in the bottom right, however at this point nothing else happens. The hard drive light flashes for a few seconds and then it's like nothing is happening. I let it sit on this screen for 10+ minutes thinking maybe it would eventually do something, but no go.
The weird thing is CS:S runs perfectly fine, no problems at all. I have a Prescott 2.8, 512MB, GeForce 6600 GT. Oh, when I launch the games through Steam it does give me a message about my video card not being found in their database, but I assume that's because it's a newer card and they haven't updated their DB with it yet.
I read a couple other forum posts saying to delete the steamapps folder and then redownload all of the games, but I would really like to hopefully find another solution because that would take a really long time.
