HL2 Sound

This probably sounds really stupid to you guys, but what kind of sound will hl2 support?
Bog standard stereo, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1?

I want to buy some speakers and need to know what system would work best with hl

Umm... you know... depends on your sound card and speakers you know, Half-Life 2 has 3D sound and hardware accelerated sound support, which means it supports EVERYTHING, just tune your kewl sound card.

99% games that comes out today has 3D sound support, just buy your set of speakers and you'll experience the sounds in every game.

Of course, the more speakers you have, you can spot better from what direction the sound comes from and with more powerful speakers you can feel the ground rumble and your ears hurt etc etc.

Anyways the best effect you get with a room with good acoustics and 7.1 speakers, means there's middle sound speaker, subwoofer and 6 satellites around you.

Myself I prefer middle sound, subwoofer and 4 big speakers, I mean those home stereo system type speakers and an external amplifier.

hehe lol, ya i konw, but i dont have the money for a 200 dollar 5.1 and above, but then again im paying 500 for a video card,

ok fine i just dont like all the wires with the speakers, i just dont like wires thats all
