I just upgraded from a radeon 9200 se to a nvidia 6200 graphics card.
When I tried to run hl2 I get a blue screen from nv4-disp.dll.
I ran the ati cat uninstaller, and reinstalled the nvidia drivers from the card cd.
same results, I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers from the nv site.
I also reinstalled HL2 from cd and allows stream to update it.

Same problems. Farcry and Doom don't give me any trouble.

any suggestions?

thx...

More Info for what it's worth.

blue screen text....

How intuitive eh?

did u try driver cleaner and if that dosent fix it u might have to format ive heard other ppl have had this problem with switching from ati to nvidia or vice versa

use device manager to remove all display adapter drivers, then do a clean install with latest nVidia drivers
this is a driver problem for sure

Thanks all, the cat uninstaller removes all of the radeon drivers, I then did a clean install of the nvidia drivers, as stated above.

I'm not familar with driver cleaner, but I'd guess google can help me here...

worth a try...

well that was a bust, driver cleaner. Guess I should reinstall the 9200 card...

Maybe do a clean reformat (If you think your computer can use it anyway)

This is a clean format. except for starting with the 9200.

Does anyone have an email address or link for tech support?

I apprec. the assistance but I think the support/dev people need to be contacted. Why every thing works except for HL2, even after reinstalling HL2.

Perhaps there is something wrong with the card or the way hl2 communicates with it?

is that a Turbo Cache 6200?
if so, how much ram do you have?

probably not. it's a chaintech gf 6200 (sa62a)

and on the label gf 6200a agp 8x, 256mb ddr.

not really a high end card but a great improvement from the 9200
