HL2 Tunnel remake

Some time ago, when I was still in the HL2 hype(like most of the people around here), I made this:
A HL2 Tunnel bink movie map remake for normal HL, heck, I just wanted to make a map so I can play a part of HL2! :D

I chose the "tunnel" map, because it could be made easily in Hammer. You may think that the map is small, but I made it so that you can only play/see the part in the bink movie. I've wanted to release it here for quite some time, but I was too lazy. :rolleyes:

Here are some screenshots.

I've modified it a bit for Sven-coop(a HL mod), but it works fine with normal HL, r_speeds are a little high though.

(Note: there are some secrets in the map, like the shotgun and the grenades.)

Although, the distinct lack of weapons and an HEV at the start made things difficult. Still, it looked pretty cool...and for some reason the bit with the soldiers and the stairs looked really good.
 
Well, there is a HEV charger behind the grates with the zombies.(just destroy the closed one in the back) The grenades are also here.
And the shotgun is hidden behind the stacked wooden boxes on the shelf in the end of the hallway you start in.(use the tilted box to get on it)
 
sweet level, kinda dark, but cool, the whole thing looked very accurate. I had fun.
 
This, much like the tech demo remake, simply shows the limitations of halflife and makes me want to get Hl2 so much more.
 
you think you could work on more levels, i like these kinda maps from HL2 for half-life 1 its kinda funny, how bout klieners lab, or Traptown..
 
Kleiners lab would be a little hard to make with all the talking. BTW, Kleiners lab is only one room....
Traptown on the other hand, looks like it could be done in Half-Life. But I'm not saying I'm going to make it. Or maybe I am.... :naughty:
 
Heh...could make the buggy level but make the buggy a func train. Could be fun :) Although it would have to smaller or something.

What are you talking about? How could that statement have been construed in any way as being offensive?

Anyway...

Cool map. As was noted above it's neat to see these HL1 recreations of HL2 locations to really show off the limitations of the old engine.
 
i dont know but the mods have been seeing the glass half empty recently...

i thought chuckster did a good job, plus being one of his first post i thought it was rude.
 
wbcheater pen didnt say anything offensive, he was just making a joke. Chuck didnt even take offense and that is really all that matters. Also whats this about the mods seeing the glass half empty? If there is a really a problem then it can be solved, just bring it forward and someone will deal with it.
 
^^^ is currently working on hl2_traptown, just thought you'd like to know...
And the map will be brighter and longer than tunnel. :LOL:
 
Work on on the "pre"make of hl2_traptown is going faster than a bullet. :LOL:

Made this section in 2 hours. R_speeds are around 300. Doesn't look like much now, but wait till it's finished! :naughty:

Can't work on it now, a thunderstorm is coming. :bounce: *runs*

No, I'm not making any Combine models. I'm sure there are some already on the net.
 
Well, it's taking longer than I expected. I guess I was exited about my own map. It looks great however, I'm making progress.

New screenshot, see how it's turning out. The older screenshot is below the one in the link, compare them yourself.

Also note the r_speeds are at the maximum in the picture. (about 850) Hehe, note the blood stains on the wall in the distance?
 
Some new screenshots, I'd say the map is about 70% done:
-The outside and inside of the building are completed. R_speeds are still around 850. <pic>

-A pic inside the building. You can push the table in front of the door. <pic>

-A Combine/marine shooting at you. This is the part in the movie in which Gordon uses his manipulator to pick up the heater at the left. The window looks a bit blue, but that's going to be fixed. <pic>

-The part which I'm working on now. With the falling and swinging stuff. It's obviously NOT done. <pic>



Now I have a question for you.. How the hell do I make that box thing fall that way in Hammer?

i think it has to be scripted. like a train or somthing? open up the techdemo map im hammer and see how they made the barrels fall when shot at...

Ok, now I have it. I just looked at it in Hammer and I think it must be made with path_corners or something. I'll do that in the morning, right now, it's off to bed with me. (yes, I do live in Europe) This would make a great deathmatch map btw.

Yes, my friend was getting that too. It's weird. :|
 
Could be to do with the way the map is split up where objects touch. I cant remember, but weren't there barrels and stuff lying around?
