just wanted to see your thoughts on which game has better graphics, not gameplay because we can't judge that from hl2 since we haven't played it
:bounce: :bounce:
i am downloading the demo right now and will post my thoughts about it after i play it, so far i have heard a lot of good things about farcry.

I really can't say, since HL2 isn't out yet. But i can say that FarCry is pretty cool, but i don't like the control system that much, it's ok but it doesn't really feel "right" to me. And then there's the issue with it not working 100% with ATI cards...

yeah this has been done to death and its quite obvious which has better graphics.

I had a lot of fun with the demo... No problems except the lack of AA... the game looked beautiful regardless. The water effects are amazing, as are the shadows and lighting... Gameplay is adequately fun - it actually has a bit of a learning curve, it took me a while to get into but it feels good after a while. As far as invisible limits in the level goes... who cares. There will always be limits. The view from the top of the island is breathtaking. It's one of those rare games that makes you feel you're actually there.

Comparing this to Half-Life 2 is pointless... they're completely different flavours of game. I myself with cherish them both... along with Doom 3 and Stalker.

FarCry refuses to play on my system... I get into the game and it goes about a frame every 5 seconds on the lowest settings and performs just the same on ones that fit my hardware... dunno what's wrong. I sure hope HL2 doesn't do the same thing :-\

i was able to turn every settting to max on the demo exept for tecture filtering which for some reason wouldn't go higher than medium. I ran the game at 800 x 600 and it ran smooth, i haven't tried higher but i'm not a resolution hog. To get the game to work with ati radeons you need the 3.9 drivers

i really liked the game, i only wish the corpses didn't disappear and there was more gore, the grenades were a bit ackward too but i eventually got used to them

Half life 2.

Far cry has MAJOR graphical bugs that just piss me off no end.

guys vanishing, guys just popping into view when there was no1 there before.

the player models just look dumb for where they are supposed to be set.

take away the water effects (witch mant games have, COD Halo Hl2 etc.) and its a luke warm first person shooter.

jack of all trades master of none.

mmm yes, the grenades seemed to "pop out of your chest" hen you threw them...same thing with rock but it's alright....Best demo I've played so far

Well Halflife2 Kills FarCry except in one think "THE CAR Graphics"

Fc's car got better Physics and graphics than HL2.

thats it :)

Far cry's physics DO NOT even approach half life 2's.

in farcry the only physics i saw was 2 barrels get nudged a tiny bit. in the tech demo we saw a melon getting cut in half and rolling down slopes, and mattreses and boxes and tables blocking doorways.

retract that physics statement before some noob actualy belives that.

yeah the physics at this stage are pretty poor. i do like the tropical environment of Far Cry though. If there wasn't a bunch of guys shooting me I could prolly pull up a deckchair and relax.

this has been done to death. As well as i'm sure it'll lead to death and bad things.
