Sure, HL2 will be ****ing amazing, but EVERY GAME gets old with time. Every single one. Don't throw away the first month, make it all it's worth. Because you'll look back and wish you could wait for HL2 again. You'll wish you could touch the CD for the first time again, and you'll remember when there were no hacks and such out, when everyone was helpful, and when you first saw something done in the game.

Just, I'm not sure... don't let it go to waste, guys.

I wouldent say thatHL isnt just another game, but sure it will, thats when the MODs come in the picture, thats something pretty originally with HL, dude its over 200 mods in the making before the dang game is even out!
So i think this game got a couple of years of goodness ahead of it!
And not to mention the Source its so mod friendly that we will surley se loads of various mods. Thats will keep the game alive a looong time

I'm still playing Half-Life and actually earlier today I was impressed with something simple that happened.
 
Actually I replayed Half-Life at my freinds house on his PS2 (not done the whole game yet) and I still think its great, totally worth multpile play-throughs. If HL2 is just as good as Hl1, which Gabe thinks it is, I think it too will stand the test of time.

Oh sure, of course, but it won't be fresh after a certain period of time. Like Animal said, savor the moment. It'll continue to be fun, but not in a "new game way" type fun.
 
I've replayed singleplayer Half-Life more than anyother videogame...Ever.

I've probably played all the way through like 4 times.
 
Yea indeed, my point is, since the Source is so MODable there will be mods that will be taken as new games, the wont have to stay within the frames of HL sort of speak, as old mods for old games is forced to do! So i think there will be some real pro mods to look forward to every now and then, kinda gives the thrill back!

It was stupidly simple. I was just killing some Houndeyes, I got 3 out of 4, then the 4th just ran away.

And I thought, "That's really simple, but can't recall any recent games I've played where something like this happens".

Also, just the "Power Up" level in general. I haven't really cared for it but today I realised all the little touches that went into it, like Marines coming down on a lift suddenly and the roars of the Garg.

I may be easily impressed but I enjoyed these little touches.
 
Sorry what is the garg again?

I love the houndeyes, they were so easy I felt bad killing them :)
