HL2 won`t install fully

Hi all I have a problem installing all the game..I bought the retail version when it was released many moon ago , played it all the time..no ploblems... About a year and half i formatted and never in stalled it again untill a bout 3 days ago , but when i install now only half of it installs { the rest it downloads } but when i try to launch HL2 or CCS all i get is a purchase button to click on...any help will be appriciated..

sorry forgot to mention the IP iwas with at the time got dissconnected due to lack of funds.....I remembered my username in steam and went about trying to log in { guessing alot of things i wrote ie passwords ,email addresses. you get the picture}, finally i logged in...not sure if everything was right by the looks of my problems...

ok buddy settle down, and keep in mind you can be suspended, written up, or banned ( what ever words they like to use here ) for bumping threads like that, just keep that in mind. ok, heres whats going on:

1: when you got it "many moon ago" it had very few ( or less then now ) updates, its not so much as still installing, but installing new updates that will alow the game to run a little better then out of box.

2: you will have to log into the same user name and password you used to play the game "many moon ago". ( assume you already did this or it would not have worked, if after its all done downloading the updates and it says "pre-load complete" then you are not logged into the right account, you will have to either find out what your old account info is, or pay valve a $10 fee to have your SN reset or put on a different account. ) * after going back and reading your second post I've discovered you figured this out already. your IP at the time has nothing to do with this, you are haveing no problem, the only problem you might be haveing is slow ass internet, just wait for the updates to finish downloading and you should be good to go.

sorry bout the bumpin....my appologizeizms....as for the downloading of the rest of the game.diddely-squit...it does say summin about pre-loading though....if i remmember rightly " many moon ago" i`m sure there was a launch button to press not a purchase button?

edit* yep it does indeed say pre-load complete.....how would i go about getting my info i first installed the game with...i remembered my username , but email address and password took may goes...

Well, you'll have to either a) remember your original password to your original account, or b) ask Valve to do it for you, providing ID, etc to Valve. TO VALVE! Not to us, before you post your CD key or something. -_-
