yesterday a dutch television program about the game-world (on TMF), mentioned that the hacker responsible for the source-code theft was arrested a week ago. They didn't confirm any sources and it sounded VERY much like a rumour picked of the internet somewhere. but, they didn't say it was a rumour, and did mean it seriously.

I don't know what to believe, but I thought I'd just share this un-reliable information with you, because maybe more people have seen it on the television

That is know for a couple of weeks. TMF Gamefacts sucks ass.

Valve said that they'd release some info on this soon after E3. But I guess we know by now how that story goes.... :)

When VALVe says "soon" they mean half a fuggin' year or more.

Actually I was under the impression that it wasn't true and was more a rumour.

If the guy has been caught (which I doubt) we would have more info than "some guy arrested for source code theft". We would at least get his name or more info than "some guy"

Valve has confirmed (multime times) that hte source code theif has been caught.

I do remember the thread, but I didn't know about the confirmation - anybody got any links?

Can't be arsed to look for it, but it was the thread of that dude that went to Valve with his friend (and his friend is betatester now) and someone from Valve confirmed it was the creator of Podbot or something from Germany named Axel G...(I believe)

And yeah, TMF Gamefacts sucks, hell TMF sucks in general.

the only stories about Axel G/Ago being arrested that pointed him out to be the person who stole the source were some foreign news sites, there were other news sites that carried the story in english but they didn't make the hl2 connection, i believe the whole connection was simply a guess based on an old old irc log from around the time of the supposed leak.

There were those kids that visited VALVe, and Gabe confirmed that the person who was arrested was the thief.. atleast, that's what was claimed

Been known for a while now, doesn't really need another thread on it. Closed.
