Im using an ATI Radeon 9600XT128meg(256bit).
I get around 40 - 50 Degrees Celcius when running games.
Im wondering if I do use Omega Drivers will my graphics card fry because of to much heat?

Ah..an add-on to his question, what drivers SHOULD I use for a 9700 Pro?

yeah add on for me too which Drivers should I use for 9800PRO I'm having problems with the Catalyst 4.10's as i can't open the Catalyst control center.

I don't mean to hijack your thread but I'm having an annoying problem with omegas. I installed the latest Nvidia ones for my 61.77 and in most games it's class - i get anywhere from 15-40fps quicker, but in Call of Duty I get all sorts of random tearing and distortion which can only be avoided by turning on Vsync. The problem with doing that is my fps is so much lower with Vsync on - with it off (and with all the annyoing tearing) i get over double the fps - and with it on I get only 5fps quicker if that. :( Any ideas??

:hmph: 40 to 50 degress Celsius is fine, no the omega drivers won;t kill your card. I can get up to 60 degree Celsius on my card.

And for the people having problems opening the catalyst control center : Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 through WindowsUpdate to fix that. If that doesn't work, use DriverCleaner (Google it) to erase your drivers and reinstall them.

Have you downloaded Microsoft Framework 1.1 from the updates site? The CC only works if Framework 1.1 is installed on your system.

Thats not really a problem with the omega drivers, if anything its a good thing!

You probably know this but the image tearing is a result of your fps exceeding the refresh rate of your monitor (ie if you're getting over 60fps and the refresh rate is 60hz) so it sounds as if the new drivers gave your performance a pretty big boost.

The only way to prevent image tearing afaik is to turn on vsync. Maybe by turning up some other details or using a higher resolution you could bring your fps to just below the refresh rate of your monitor though.

h4vvok - any of the catalyst or omega drivers will work fine with your card.

Well considernig Call of Duty is OPENGL
Considering with OPENGL you can counter vsync's fps lowering(or alot of it):
Enable Triple Buffering.
