Hello!

I have just installed half life 2 on my system, ran the steam updates and wanted to play, but I have some horrible graphic errors. Walls and models just do not look complete to me :(

I have installed the newest graphic card drivers, via 4in1, direct x9c, have verified my steam data, tried nearly every graphic option in halflife 2... etc. I have no clue what I can do next! Please help me. I have attached few screenshots to that topic.

my system:
amd xp 2600+
leadtek geforce 6600gt
1.25 gb ram
win xp with service pack 2
direct x9c

thank you a lot

Type in 'flush' in the console. Are you sure your card isn't overheating?

Hmm, its probably your card, when you try to push a card too much that stretching happens. It happened to me on Halo PC before I got my new card... as for what to do, i'm not too sure, try reinstalling, maybe mess with some of the video settings.

I have never overclocked the card and it is brand new. Regarding the heat problem: I have started the game right after OS start, the system should not be that hot at that time.

I will try to reinstall hl2. Hope that helps. Or is there any known bug or problem with the 6600gt?

Bugs with the 6600gt? Not that I know of. I have that card and aside from the "stuttering" I get very good frames and no image weridness. I hope the reinstall works for you.

Hello again!

i have now installed win xp new. and half life2 on a brand new harddisc. Than the official nvidia drivers and what I see is the same horrible graphic errors as mentioned above. I have deinstallled the drivers and installed some newer beta dirivers: same problem. Than deinstalled and installed even newer beta drivers: same problem. Again, I have deinstalled them and installed drivers from DNA (the newest one). Same poblem. It got even worser the newer the drivers were. So I decided to install some pretty old drivers from omega - based on the nvidia 61.77 ... aaaaand: the holes were gone, but image quality is now really bad. Everything is to light, the textures are without detail, no shadows. But the holes in walls and models are gone!

WHAT is that!? :(

Ummm... anything else we can reccommend?

Have you tried installing HL2 on a different computer (but with your current steam account)?

I'd just like to confirm it's your graphics card. Nvidia seems to throw screaming hissy fits over just about anything, these days.

Where did you by HL2 from?Go back to that store and tell them the game is screwed, and let them exchange it for a new one, remember to write down the CD-KEY of your current HL2,^_^.
I really don't have a clue what is going on with your game, but hey,if you fellow my instructions you can get a extra CD-KEY,:).

oh, what i forgot to mention: I exchanged the card! it was a leadtek 6600gt, now I got a club3d 6600gt....

i will give halflife2 back to the store

hello again!

I have returned my halflife2 copy to the store and got a brand new one. I have deinstalled the old installation, format d: and installed from the brand new disk, but: SAME PROBLEM! :( what now?

its your card mate.... you probably want to ask Nvidea if they know what might be causing it, or mail valve asking them if there are known problems with your card.

valve and nvidia and vivendi. they all do not answere to my support request emails :(
