Screenshots of the right side of the page.

That is just one of the huge (And I mean HUGE) amount of visual upgraders for Morrowind that modders have made. This, combined with Better Bodies, Better Heads, and High Res Texture Replacers, can make Morrowind amazingly similar to Oblivion (as far as mods can take a game). The problem is that you need Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansion packs to use these mods... I just got Bloodmoon today, so I have been downloading mods like crazy, and this just blows me away.. The High res mods are 47 MB, and I've got dial-up, so It'll take me until tomarrow to download it.. but when I do, I'll post screens to show you..

Necessities of Morrowind (Makes you hungry, sleepy, drunk, ect.)
Better Bodies (Replaces the look of the low res bodies of Morrowind)
Better Heads (Adds more photo realistic heads to the games NPC, they are also playable)
Morrowind Graphics Extender (The one in the link)
High res replacers (Make the game look even more photo realistic)
Leafy Morrowind (Makes the trees look alot better)

All those mods combined with a few smaller mods can make Morrowind just like Oblivion (Not as graphically nice, or no physics), so everyone who has been saying that the only reason they play Oblivion is because Morrowind was bland, can just download these mods and play Morrowind again!

I just needed to post that because it looks and is so damn good, and Oblivion takes away alot of amazing gameplay/RPG-ness from Morrowind, with this you can have graphics that aren't bland and stale, and the awesome gameplay of Morrowind!

Unfortunately Morrowind has very poor video performance, and even worse when you add in all those graphical mods.

Well.. with Leafy Morrowind it replaces textures on every tree/bush and I didn't notice any FPS lost...

Whoa, sure makes it look a lot better. I was able to find all the others, but could you give a link for the "High res replacers" mod? Thanks. :)

I have many a few visual upgrades for Morrowind and some of them are indeed nice, even so there are limits to what can be done which is dissapointing.

I still use Morrowind Visual Pack although I havn't played Morrowind in a while so I can't comment on it's greatness.

It looks quite a bit better than stock morrowind.... but NOWHERE near Oblivion.

That isn't showing the Texture mods, though.. That mod replaces textures, but not like some other mods.

@ Xombine there isn't one mod thats called "High Res Texture Replacer", I just said that as a general name for them, because there are so many of them, and they are all really good, heres one I thought was really cool.

I'm not DLing it, because it's 115MB it'd take 30 years on Dial-up.. I want it soo bad, though.. Maybe if you download it, you can upload it as a torrent? PLEASE?!

Also download a sign replacer, it replaces the jibberish with real letters on sign posts.

Thanks for the link. I added you on Xfire, I'd be glad to help you. ;)

Wait, check your inbox. I found something :)

is Morrowind worth obtaining? Oblivion has probably become my favourite game of all time, but I've heard mixed things about Morrowind - namely poor performance and a crappy combat system.

Considering it's only about 10 bucks, yeah. I thought Oblivion was better than Morrowind in just about everyway, but Morrowind's still a cool game in its own right.

I was about to download before my stupidity realised, it's morrowing, not Oblivion :p

I feel sad that I spent $65 for Oblivion, but cannot "get into" it.
Morrowind is so much more fun.

I have all 3 Morrowind titles/expansions, got it for like £15 GOTY edition about 2-3 years ago.

Those mods are stunning and Morrowind was ALOT better than Oblivion, just the graphics and AI/Scripting of NPCs seemed abit low.

I'm VERY sure Morrowind is SO SO SO much bigger than Oblivion, I played it for like, 1 year straight and only scratched the story. So much to do.

Just today I started a new character, with all the mods it made it WAY more playable. I did not do 1 quest, I just explored, I'm not even close to 1/10 of the map explored, and I was roaming around for 6+ hours. Heres some screenshots that I thought looked cool. lol, I swam from Solstheim to Vvardenfell :)

I killed all 5 people in the first 2 screenshots

Better heads is what I'm using, also Morrowind Comes Alive put a random rogue in the village, and she had a cool scarf, so I taunted her to make her attack me, then I killed her legally and took the scarf.

Better than Oblivion. I love this game.

wtf.. have you even played Morrowind? It looks 100x better, and thats not even with any texture replacers...

With all the mods and texture replacements I have here's what it looks like for me. A stunning difference. :D

Lol @ using Xfire for screenshots. But it still looks like crap unfortunately.

Yeah, I honestly don't see THAT much of an improvment.

Holy Crap, I just counted 69 mods I use, totaling 85.9MB, and when I download the texture mod it'll be 202.9MB of mods, tomarrow I'm downloading the last few "essential" mods for myself, it'll be somewhere around 80 mods in total.. and I doubt I'm going to stop DLing mods anytime soon.. people still mod for Morrowind, and there are some really good small mods that I know I havn't found yet. My Morrowind is way more playable than Oblivion ever will be, now!!! HURRAY!

No difference?

Xfire is all I had open and I didn't want to go open Fraps so stfu. I mean, ffs look at the guy's face.

Do you people have trouble admitting that the game looks the slightest bit better?

It may look better, however it still looks terrible. That's the point.

I don't see how it looks terrible. What these mods are doing is not improving the engine as much as simply making the game look better, kind of like most people agree World of Warcraft looks better than Everquest II. Visual technological candy is pretty short lived. I just played the Dark Messiah demo, making Oblivion's graphics outdated. Since Oblivion's gameplay was outdated from day one and it is set in a wasteland of Graeco-Roman mediocrity, there is nothing left to turn to. Style is so much greater than a polygon count.

Wolfenstein 3D looks better than World of Warcraft.

However, yes this looks terrible. How can I say that? Because it looks terrible, so I can. It looks bad, outdated, shite, unacceptable, etc..

Starcraft. One of the greatest games ever created, yet it has little 16 bit graphics for units, and even so, the graphics are still really good to look at. It was released in 1998. Point is that, even though it's old, it looks good from what the modders had to work with. No offense to xombine, but those were crappy screens. There are so many head mods out there, and body mods, clothes mods, ect; that screenshot doesn't really show much. Normal Morrowind graphics suck ass. With these mods it makes it look good. This thread isn't about mods that make Morrowind better to look at then modern games, it's about how Morrowind went from cruddy low res graphics to this.

Whatever you say. :rolling:

How the hell people think WoW looks better than EQ2 is beyond me, WoW looks like some 5 year old kids drew it. :|

I installed Morriwind and all the expansions but mods didn't work, just crashed the game to desktop.

Agree or not it should be obvious. In fact, you just said so. World of Warcraft doesn't look like its trying to achieve photo-realism but instead simply a raw visceral palette of colors and atmosphere. If our aim is to see things as one deminsionally as possible here I'll just go ahead and say that Everquest II looks like its made out of plastic.

In actuality, however, neither game looks nor plays all that great.

Cool beans but im actually quite happy with the graphics in morrowind. I haven't got a single mod on it, the game is so long I never got a chance to complete it.
