For some odd reason my temps have been very high recently. (CPU idle at 45 degrees.) And when I played FarCry the motherboard would beep to say that its too hot (CPU at 60 degrees.) So I open up the case and look in my case and its dusty as hell. A thick cake is clogging the HSF. After I clean out most of the dust now my CPU idle temp is at 34 degrees. An 11 degree difference!
I want to have a dust filter to prevent more dust from causing problems but the one I have is too big and want fit in the fan holder. Does anyone have suggestions of what to use for filters. I have a feeling coffee filters may work unless the holes are too small. I'm not sure.
Plz. Yalls ideas?

Go buy a thin air filter at a grocery store and custom cut it to fit your fans :)

the ones that are used for ummm room air filters?

Yeah, they tend to be a bit thick, but you can often find thinner ones for other purposes

I saw when I was watching The Screen Savers once, that they said panty hoes (sp?) are really good for keeping out dust. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems like it would work.

LOL I can see it now.

/mom comes home

"hunnie what are you doing"

/sees guinny cutting his moms pantyhose

"my computer temps are too high mom...gotta take care of it"

pantyhose are amazing. They'd probably do it. They're also great for shining shoes!
