Homemade flamethrower

I've built potato guns but that is completely insane. There is no way you could do that and be safe. Plus, he didn't even have a blowback valve on it. Not like a blowback valve is really gonna help if something does go wrong. :|

I can't believe he posted instructions for it (even if it is a water gun version). The guy is stupid and will kill/hurt himself. :|

A backflow valve is not going to stop a back flow when flames are involved. :|

PVC is meant for water not flames. There are tons of other issues that I would be worried with having my own PVC flame thrower.

On scale of stupid/dangerous stuff you can do, this rates about the same level as playing Russian Roulette.

That's just stupid, the US military stopped using flamers in the seventies after the Vietnam war, I don't think there's any army left that still uses them. It's like saying an RPG is a firearm so it's my right to have one! it's in the constitution!

If they'd used petrol (gasoline) the fumes would ignite the tank instantly, so they use screenwash instead (no fumes) - makes it a lot safer, as it would need the entire length of the feed pipe to melt before any flames could ignite up the length of the pipe and explode the tank. - Either that or they'd have to tip the gun up to allow air (+ oxygen) to get down the feed pipe, making the whole thing explosive.

I wouldn't try this at home, though.

It seems to me..it would be stupid for anyone else to try to build this besides him.

He seems to know what he's doing.

You guys are right, very dangerous indeed, but this guy seems to be pretty smart about this kind of stuff.

Also, the reaction those guys gave are the typical American reaction.

Back when I was really young I lived on a farm and we had a military flamethrower, omg that shit was crazy when my grandfather would use it...
 
Pah. We had cruise missiles on our tractors. Still, I'd say that's rather dangerous, if impossibly cool... ;)

my mates made a flamethrower from a supersoaker and a match...got all of 5 seconds use to burn down a tree when someone noticed leaking petrol ove rtheir shirt and suddenly remembered how ****ing dumb they were being.

Seriosuly though, that's f*cking crazy. Imagine testing that thing in the street. I'd show those scholl bullies for sure...
 
Hah, that's sweet... not quite as crazy as the guy I used to live by, though... he'd put hairspray all over his hands then light them on fire... quite often, too... :p

Wish I had me one o' those for Sunday... you could prolly light like 20 artillery shell tubes at once with that hoss. :)
 
Someone i knew at collage sprayed deoderant all over their foot and set it on fire...They had 3rd degree burns on their foot and second degree on their leg. :|
