For you people with lesser system valves word seems to be true about the game running on lower end systems.

Running the game in DX6 or DX7 mode I get over 175fps on my 9800np. Which means you guys with Ti4xxx will probably get at least around 60 or more.

Apparently performance gains can be had by changing these settings through console:

r_shadows 0
r_3dsky 0
r_dynamic 0
r_lod

Ti 4200 isn't really low end, as it can beat a 5600 and hold it's own.

FPS isn't all though, I was going to get a DX9 card, not because I get more fps, but because the new effects are so cool.

If HL2 is not coming till Christmas, then I'll get a DX9 now. However, if its coming in April 2004, I'll settle with a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 to play Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike, and then upgrade to a Radeon 9800 pro in April. :bounce:

There is a huge difference when running with 9800np and a tnt2 or radeon or geforce. You can't really judge what kind of performance you'll get with these old card just by running the features that they support.
