Looks like they released a patch today. Get it here - http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_071505 But of course the download link doesn't appear to be working. Anybody got any other links?

I dont know why they wouldnt, it doesnt change gameplay issues.

The problem is getting everyone on it, and matches are on Sunday. Some teams will bitch that their members had troubles getting the patch of some BS like that and they didn't have enough time. I am guessing it will go by the teams that are playing, if boths teams agree on a patch that is the one they will use.

I thought you could do it like so because if I recall correctly, EA told everyone to uninstall BF2 and reinstall your retail version if you installed v. 1.01.

Yeah, some guys in this clan im playing with atm are having the same probs. They've d/l'd from diff sites, re-installed BF2 in diff directories etc. Any advice i can give 'em?

the new patch means the game optimises your shaders again, thats why prolly, infact it'd be a good idea to go to your bf2 folder in my docs and mods/dmp/ and delete these folders, then load up the game and let it optimise shaders.

its recommended after you change settings that you quit the game and delete these files as they can cause some slowdown it is said as the game has to load these shaders and can get mixed up with the old ones.

the game online seems alot smoother now with this fix.

DICE did the patch, thats why it works. The people that have problems installing may have some registry error they can fix in about 2 seconds. Also for most of the part the people not able to install or say it runs like shit on their pc cannot run them correctly. I know several people with WAY better specs than my gaming pc and I am playing it better, some don't understand a defrag does help out....

Yeah it changed my video prefernaces. For some reason though, I had better performance on medium then I did this time around. Maybe it's just my memory playing tricks on me, cuase they didn't edit anything that should do that to me..oh well, back to low settings

i know exactly how to get it going

takes a bit of assing about with but the 1.02 patch setup has trouble finding peoples bf2 directories for some reason so what you do is....

load the setup up and choose your language...when it loads leave it on the continue prompt

go into C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp

there should be a directory there with a string of numbers like {304374 ....etc. in that folder, there should be a number of files including PATCH.EXE ....copy that entire folder to somewhere easily accessible

run the command prompt and go into the folder with patch.exe ...then run patch with your bf2 folder...for example:

patch c:\progra~1\eagame~1\battle~1

should work like magic

when its finished patching, just quit the setup program and bf2 should be patched to 1.02

Pretty normal.. The patch took around that much time for me if not longer..

You guys should fix your pc's. Mine took about a minute to patch.
