Yo Yo guys.

Right, im at Uni at the moment and have been living with my lot (2 guys inc. me, and 5 girls) in halls since Sep last year.

4 of us are fine (we're practically a family), but the other 3 girls just NEVER washup and put their stuff away when they are finished eating. I ended up spending an hour and a half this morning, for like the 10th time, washing up (by hand) THEIR cutlery, plates, bowls, saucepans etc. I had music on in the background and i can do anything to music, so i wasnt too pissed off.

But that isnt the point. I just need to find a way to get them to stop living like pigs, as it's getting to the point where i want them OUT. I love all my housemates to bits, but its just these 3 girls that NEVER washup. ARGH!!!

I need a solution! HELP ME HL2.NET, I SEEK YOUR WISDOM!!

Alternatively, you and your housemates can have a serious and proper chat with them and explain to them how much it's pissing you all off and then if they persist, simply don't wash up their mess. Move it out of the way. You're not obliged to clean up after them, so don't let them get away with it.

In the last house I lived in, one of my housemates was very fastidious about these things and sometimes ended up cleaning up after me which made me feel terribly guilty. It wasn't that I didn't do my share, it's just that I was more relaxed about it than she was. We weren't living in squalor by any means.
The house I lived in before that was horrendous. Washing would pile up and sometimes it'd be have submerged in disgusting water in the sink for days on end. The most irritating thing about it was that we had a dishwasher. Gah...
 
My house is basically a slum, but it gets the occasional cleaning bursts. This year, the girl of the house is a ****ing twat, and never washes up her stuff, it gets disgusting, but I don't really care too much.

Just talk to them about it, don't let it get petty :) otherwise it could be odd..
 
Tell them your pissed off, if they still do nothing throw all their dirty dishes into their rooms/beds till they get the message. Most people will keep doing nothing as long as they can get away with it, so don't let them.
 
I have that problem alot of the times at my place, too. You can let it go and go and go, but it takes them about a week of it smelling up the place before they say anything about it, than another week to do something about it. If I didn't ONLY dirty a cup and a knife here and there for sandwiches, I'd clean up..but when they are the ones doing 90% of the mess...forget it.

I guess that's not half as bad as a guy I used to know who'd eat bacon with a spoon... but it's still kind of weird.

Well it just gets to the point where you're doing a balancing act on the drying up pile just to get something to cook and eat with. Ive said its pissed us off so many times and yet they keep doing it.

So this morning i made a huge cleanup, one of them came in and said nothing, whereas the other 2 said 'it was a really sweet jesture'...but i just half nodded and walked out, trying to look pissed off enough to make them get the message.

Problem is if i say anything, they walk off shouting saying 'oh well its not mine', using excuses like 'well i had to run to a lecture'...AHHH!!

I just felt like smashing their doors down this morning and scream 'get in the kitchen and ****ing clean up your ***t damn it!'

Do something to that effect. "Clean your shit up, or don't come back". It works rather effectively.
 
Shit in their toilet and make sure you clog it, and if they say anything about it, say its not yours and that you have to go to a lecture.
 
Same thing happened to me when i was at school. Me and one of my roomates were always stuck with the cleaning. We use to have HUGE parties so cleaning on a Sunday morning took FOREVER, plus I had to vacuum the rugs.

Basically we all sat down and agreed that everyone had to take an equal share in responsibility.
 
Immediately after you guys have a meal together, tell them to help you wash the dishes as it would be faster with some help, and there wouldn't be a pile of dishes for days afterward. The alternative is to just let the dishes pile up until they can't stand it anymore. Do this frequently, and they will become used to doing the dishes every so often.

Everytime they do the dishes, reward them with sex. Everybody wins.

edit2: If all else fails, it doesn't hurt to keep your pimp hand strong. Put the bitches in their place by laying down the law with your backhand pimp swing.

University dorms/halls usually have strict guidelines on cleanliness. All you have to do is report it to your floor or section's RA and have them take a look at it when its messy.

Talk to the RA and tell them about your problem, and that you plan on discussing it with your roommates before you want the RA's to take any sort of action. This way, they'll know about the problem you're having before hand (and your room mates won't be able to do the ol' switcheroo on you and go to them complaining about you right after you warn them that you will go to the RA if they don't shape up.)

If they don't start cleaning up to policy standards (which i highly doubt they will... habits break hard), then go to your RA again and have them find you a new roommate (don't agree to move... make THEM move out).
 
Yeah thats kind of the 'last straw' thing i'd do. I mean, i havent got a problem with them, but its kind of sick how they just leave the mess. And i'll become a twat in everyone's eyes if i 'get someone kicked out' basically. Its just...grrrr

I WILL flip out and start shouting the next time it gets bad, i just dont want to create tension at the same time you know? Seeing people in the hallway and pretending not to notice them is just childish, but thats what will happen...im sure of it.

I just dont know what to do. I can lecture and lecture like an annoying parent all i want, its upto them to adapt their lifestyle...is getting them evicted really the path i should consider going down if they dont change their ways through talking???

I had had a fairly sressful weekend, came back at 5:30 in the morning (from my own house 2 hours away, i went home for work), grabbed a drink from the kitchen and there were just dishes pilled up all over the worktops. I thought 'nah ***k this, it was just as bad when i left on friday afternoon', and just thought '***k it' and did it when i woke up again at around 10.

They WERE greatful, and the others i dont have a problem with gave me hugs and kisses etc, but the 3 girls just said 'awww thanks' and buggered off.
 
Tell them they either wash the dishes or you sex them.
 
I wouldn't go as far as evicting them.. that's a step too far imo. Just talk to them about it.
 
what about taking a hostage sotuation?

take hers shoes and bags and meance hers whit burining them if they dont cooperate

Like tehsolace says, do it through whatever staff you have. Leave the place for a day or two, allow the junk to build up, and then let them know you have a problem - in some of the halls on my campus people have been fined/deposits taken away etc. A written warning from uni services threatening to fine them a hundred quid might make an impact.

I then slowly reached up and put my hand under her duvey, and she was blatantly asleep as she did nothing. I then grabbed her arm and screamed like a girl at the same time. I swear, she can hit hard. She couldnt see it was me and was battering me with her hairdryer...which did break on me lol.

Maybe thats why all this is happening..hmmm

Be patient, don't move in with them in a few months time. I did that, but in the end I became one of the untidy ones as I became TOO laid back about it all. Didn't matter so much though, people largely overlooked it because I'd already established myself as one of the clean ones :p
