How can I select offline mode without disconnecting from the Internet?

How can I select HL2 offline mode without disconnecting from the Internet? When I launch HL2, it doesn't ask and I can't seem to find where the setting or preference is located.

well youll have to log out and then enter your details and check a little box which says remember user details... and then offline mode should work...

... allthough it wont work for me ... because the internet connection i have works over a network... and it wont allow that for some wierd reason!

You need to disconnect your network connection... shit I know
