How come HL2 Gold Gets onto the Internet?

When games go gold, how come they end up on the internet? does someone leak it? some people are saying, "im going to get it before hl2 release's" etc, how the hell does it get on the internet anyway??

It's sent out to review magazines (PCG for e.g.), and there is always someone that maybe shouldn't be allowed to have it that gets it. Then spreads it to one of the cracker-ppl, you know Razor 1911, Deviance, etc.

Most magazines, bigger ones, get a copy before the game is released. It's finished but is held back until it's been shipped out to all stores before you can buy it, just to be fair.

I hope that's enough information for you... Oh, and start working at a major gaming magazine, heh..

(Btw. I look down on those who DL HL2 and then does not buy it... I just... sooo look down on them)

Well even if they download it, they cant run it without steam, also they need a veritifed copy, a cd key? so basically its useless? (multiplayer) only singleplayer maybe

And don't forget the employees who work at the factories that manufacture the game disks. Think about it, you have literally hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of copies of the most anticipated game of the year in front of you. How hard would it be not to "borrow" one?
