How do I edit (change) gcf file content?

I am trying to change some sound files in my tfc gcf file (back to the way i used to have them). I know how to view the file (gcfscape) but i cant change the files. is there another utility or work around for this?

You need to extract what you want to change out of the GCF, like a zip. There should be an option in gcfscape. Once edited, import it again.

There's a better way to do it. Extract the file, do what you want with it, and then place them in the game folder, rather than the GCF, following the same directory structure that the GCF uses. Half-Life, as far as I know, uses anything in the folders as an override to what's in the GCF.
