How do i get past my Uni?

I am at uni and have a super speed hardcore internet connection, i got it going at about 2 and a half megs a second, i think it'll go faster but i haven't tested it yet.

Anyways, because it is a uni connection it won't let me use steam, it just about lets me Kazaa but gaming is a no no. Anyone have any suggestions on how i could get my fix?

Contact the IT staff or administrator and see if they'll give you access in that port. I wouldn't bother trying to get around it, if they catch you they'll just take 'net access away from you for good, or worse, maybe even kick you out. I'm sure they won't mind you using Steam, especially if they let you use Kazaa of all things.

Kazaa does weird stuff with half-duplexing unblocked ports if its normal high-speed ports are blocked, which means it can bypass most firewalls/restrictions, albeit at a much slower speed.

There are software tools you can use to do a similar thing to give you access through multiple firewalled/restricted ports simultaneously but like Kage said, the restrictions are in place to stop you running stuff you shouldn't. If you chat with the IT staff at the help desk they'll be happy to allow steam through.
