I just got a 6800GT and I want to try out Shader Model 3.0 with FarCry. Although I don't know how to do it.

Download the 1.2 patch, I suppose you'll automatically will see the difference.

nope, I have the patch I see no difference at all.....

That's because you won't see any difference with SM3.0, it's mostly for performance.

You have to download DX 9.0c from microsoft's website and download Far Cry Patch 1.2 (which has been recalled for bugs). Once both are installed, you have to enable the SM 3.0 path.

You will have to search around the internet on how to do that because I don't remember how. Or you can wait for Asus to post.

The 1.3 patch is what's supposed to make it look cool. :) HDR... for Nvidia people only of course...

I think its like this but could be wrong, you have to have "r_sm30path 1" under your shortcut, here is a example.

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE "r_sm30path 1"

edit: err think this was for ati cards and you should have it automaticlly.

Thanks guys, I didn't know I needed the 1.2 patch running.

You will see in yellow text at the top of the screen stating 'SM30 Beta Path', if it is really enabled.
