How Do I Get The Most Out Of The Memory I Have?

I did a full system scan with Ad-Aware, removed some viruses, but in the log, it said my computer is only getting 39% of the memory available. My games have also been running pretty slow lately.

Is there any sort of tweak or something that'll get more out of the memory I have?

39% of 512MB isn't a hell of a lot, and I need more!


My explorer.exe and svchost.exe have been taking up more memory then usual, too, only about 15,000k combined, though.

there are tons of things you can disable that you may not ever need. Things for networking with other computers, printers, etc.

By the way, Ad Aware didn't find viruses, it found ad-bots, and personal info, like what folders you opened lately, and what web sites you've been browsing, stored in temp files.

If you want to find viruses, you need anti-virus software.

Anti-virus software constantly checks things you are downloading, whether it is software, images, or web pages, and attempts to thwart viruses, and destroy them.

Highly recommended for your privacy, security, and protection from hi-jacking (someone else using their computer to use your computer), and theft of identity and finances.

Not to mention it assures that your computer isn't over run making it slow, and creating a situation where you need to re-install.

I've heard a story that someone's computer was attacked immediately after installing windows, therefore, it's important to install anti-virus software right away, perhaps before plugging your internet cable in.

He claims after installing windows, he was attacked during auto-update or browsing Microsoft updates - I can't remember for clearly. But since Microsoft only has advertisements from themselves on their websites, I find that hard to believe.

explorer.exe will use less memory if you dont have alot of icons and if your taskbar is windows classic. may not make a huge impact but it will use less.

I downloaded AVG (22.2MB, took me 2 hours! GAH! DIAL-UP!) and I've successfully deleted a total of 147 viruses, every single one was a Trojan. Damn nerds making viruses, they need to get a life, dag-nabit! The scan took 2 hours (did a complete full scan on every single file).

P.S. For anyone who read my other thread, about viruses, I deleted a virus called lkwludin.exe, and qwerty12.exe, I think I'm officially virus free!



EDIT: When I'd bring up my task manager and go to the "processes" tab, I'd have 2 pages of things running (picture the list of things in the pic x3), after the scan, here is what I have.

You might delete your bookmarks and start over, and stop going wherever you were going.

Find clean porn sites.

Any porn site that throws pop-ups and adds and/or hijacks your browser is not your friend.

And don't ever use internet explorer again, download ZoneAlarm to just block it.

Also no-cd cracks for games (I download cracks for games I have bought, too, y'know..), putting in the disc all the time ruins it (found out the hard way, my legal Rise of Nations #1 was replaced by legal #2!). But I download cracks from gameburnworld, which, I thought, was relatively harmless, I've been downloading form there for ages.

I use Firefox, and that's all that's been ever used on this hard drive, and before I even went to ANY website, first thing I did was download adblock plus for it.
