how do i reformat (emachines)

　hey guys,　my pc is a bit slow so im deciding to reformat my pc to make it faster. the problem is that i dun even noe how to reformat and i got the emachines pc from bestbuy. it came with cds so i guess it should contain the windows xp OS. i got 2 external hardrives (my 20 gig ipod and a portable 40 gig hardrive) for back ups.

Ok, make sure you back up everything you want to keep. Once backed up i'd disconnect the external hard drives from your computer so you don't format those by mistake.

On one of the disc's there should be XP. (I used to have an e-machine but i can't remember what that disc was called) Insert that disc into your computer then restart. When asked to press a key on the keyboard if you want to boot from the cd, then do so. Press any key. The computer will then boot from the CD and start to load windows. When the menu appears choose to install windows and accept the lisence agreement. Then follow the instructions on the screen to format and install windows. It'll reboot when its done and load up windows (keep the disc in but dont press a key on the keyboard when it asks you to) and windows will then need some configuring. And then you're good to go. Plug your externals back in and put all your backed up data back and away you go.

Well, it's an emachines, so I'd recommend using a metal bat.
