ok i currently have a crt monitor im thinking of getting a tft 17inch but i would want to make them dual screen that would rock how the hell do you do it do you just buy and adapter or somthing???
Your video card should have two outputs on the back, On for crt's and one for lcd's if you dont have that then Your screwed as far as i know. also it should come with an adapter that changes the LCD's plug into another crt plug, then just plug it in and go, make sure to configure it in windows (where you configure your Resolutions for windows, click on the second monitor and then select "extend my windows desltop onto this monitor" then apply and you should have the other monitor up and working!
if you dont have the lcd>crt plug connecter you could probably get them somewhere else...
well for two vga's, use the DVI to VGA adapter and plug another in. The ATI control panel can configure all the multiple monitor stuff... sometimes i put a movie on, and use the TV out to watch it on my TV (duh)
And if anyone didnt know (I didnt till a week ago) you can install 2 different video cards with windows xp. My dad wanted dual moniters for his studio comp. and his factory card is a geforce mx440 agp, with only one output, so we stuck an old Diamond Stealth video card I had laying around, in a vacant pci slot and windows installed the drivers for it automatically and it works great.
Yea thats often a common way to do it - i remember i fitted a gxf card in my mates crappy comp, and he had some built in nvidia TNT2 graphics. So we put the card in and WALA 2 independent displays. Suffice to say, we disabled the onboard gfx. But LOL the computer was fairly crappy, you couldn't even disable it in the BIOS, so we just had to disable it on Device Manager :|
Connect it using the VGA > DVI adapter and...well...Windows will do the rest pretty much. If it doesn't, then go into Display Properties > Settings, select the second monitor, and check "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor." That will do it.
