I believe the only way to "stop him" is to use the Gravity Gun and fire the energy balls that come from those things and hit those 2 platform things.

I'm firing and firing at that thing at the tops of those platform things, and he's going up and their not coming down. Please help.

What I did, is kept shooting those combine energy balls at the flaps..eventually I killed the portal..

Shoot energy balls at the spinning wall thingies that surround his ... portal thingie.

Yeah!!!!

I don't know how but I did it! I basically aimed for the tops of those spinning things. And all the energy orbs did was bounce off of them.
Then all the sudden the platforms went down, exposing something at the top of it. Fired at it and destroyed that, had to deal with a few Combine Gunships, then this spinning thing came up, shot the rotating things and that did it!!

Now Gordon's in stasis again, without even saying goodbye to anyone. IMO that was a lame ending.
But I'm relieved I finally did it! No more HL2 for a LONG time... :rolling:

Well I was just hoping for a happy ending, of seeing everyone still alive and Earth is back to normal. But still, HL1 didn't end like that either. :|
This is just Part 2... the Final Fanile, which I hope, will be here before we know it. :)

Half-life might not even be a trilogy...And as for happy endings, that seems way out of valves style to happen...They always need irony...Even one of the dudes said---> "I Like a little irony in a fight" Kind of shows valves general mood/technique.

Er, Valve has already stated it IS going to be a trilogy, rest assured.

Those flaps are what I went for originally too, lost the ending sequence 3-4 times because of it. You probably accidentally hit one of the spinning shields behind it, which is what you're supposed to aim for.
