How do you access HL2 files/models/images/audio files?

How do you access HL2 files/models/images/audio files? Because on my computer there doesn't seem to be any half life 2 files apart from the application itself, and steam.

Does anyone know how to get to them? I'm using Mac OSX Snow Leopard and I'm using Half life 2 via Steam.

I can't use that application unfortunately, because as I stated I'm using Mac OSX, not Windows.
