my friend went over his moniters res in css, so he cant start it without saying video mode not supported or something, i am thinking he will need to change res from the config, but i cant find anything about res there, i am thinking of telling him to type something in, what would it be?

Are you saying he can or cannot start up css? If he can, he can just change the res in there, exit, and reopen it.

Buy a bigger monitor! What better excuse do you need?

But seriously, you should be able to change it in the *user*.ini I'm not on my computer at the moment so I can't tell you the name of the file.

You change the resolution manually.
Start -> Run (type regedit)

At [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\cstrike\settings]
You will find in here ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth. Height is the smaller of the two numbers of the resolution.

To edit the keys, right click on one and select Modify.

In the popup menu, select, in the Base section, Decimal.

Once you have done that you can change the number to correct width/height of the resolution.

For example:
change ScreenWidth to 640
change ScreenHeight to 480

I hope this helps... this might be a little less hassle than reinstalling the game. :cheers:
