How do you check fps in Doom3?

How can you see the fps while your in single player, I tired pushing ~ ingame but it didn't bring up the console menue, how do you enable the console menue. Thanks.

I cant stand the FPS at the corner of my screen. I end up watching the numbers instead of the enemies when im in the middle of the battle. I would never tell the difference between 20 and 60 FPS if it wasnt for the numbers at the bottom of the screen.
Is doom 3 good? I have been hearing some very mixed reviews.

Ctrl+Alt+~ brings up the console the first time.

"com_allowconsole 1" lets you bring it up by just ~ from then on.

"com_showfps 1" is the command to show your frame rate.

Ha, they range from 60 and drop to 30 when I get hit by fireballs, but 50 average, not bad for a 9800 Pro.
