I clicked own money and then remembered I'm on the benefit, lol. I don't pirate, except for a few SNES roms here and there and that sort of thing, which I usually delete within a week.

Games I want to play extensively? I buy them with my own money.

Games that suck and I just want to test before I buy? ARRR MATEY!

A lot come from my own money, though sometimes a few games that either arent avaliable in my area, or I am really unsure about I will pirate...

Own money. I am not very big on downloading anyway (except for music).

50-50
or 35-35-30

Some with my own money, some came as gifts, the occasional pirate comes out now and again, mainly for racing games though

I buy my games or borrow console titles from my brother/friends. I don't rent. I don't pirate games.
Or if I'm at a LAN I'll try out some games people have brought. ;)

Either way, if I like a game then it's my money that is paying for the game. Probably 75/25 for in stores vs online.

Buy and occasionally borrow, but I don't pirate/download games unless they are abandonware/legitimately unavailable.

I pirate when the game doesn't get a good average review score based on several sources... above 85% or so average the game deserves my cash....

message to developers... dont make shit games and you might actually make a profit come the games release!

I've only pirated a few games. Things like snooker or tennis that I only play for 2 days when those sports come on TV.

I always buy new games, especially if they have multiplayer since I doubt any pirated games work online with the CD-keys.

Parents usually carry the money when a game is spotted.

I just pay them back later

I don't buy many games, and I have a LOT of roms. So I guess that they could even out to 50-50 and I buy most of my PC games.

Own money if there is a game I really want but if I'm just thinking about a game I'll download it, test it, if it has good Multiplayer I'll buy it.

I download only small games (dopeman's rips)...

LMAO...

1GB to 5GB Per Game - At least it's a single digit.

Over the years I have bought a whole lot of games. Honestly well over $20,000.00 worth since 1997 alone. A lot of those games I have in one way or another broken, scratched or in some way destroyed over the years by tard actions all of my own. So for those that I have bought, I have discovered thats it's a prudent idea to acquire a copy, since my own backups never seem to work. I have several retail copies of the same game, because i'll either lose, or loan a game & then never find it or get it back until a much later time.

I'm also thankful that on occasions I have had games sent to me to be reviewed.

I have no idea what you are talking about as I have never pirated a game ever, I've never heard of pirate bay

*quickly hides folders*

Although honestly I buy most of my games.

I buy them with my money. A few of them i pirated, mostly the console shitty ports

Are NES/SNES and Genesis roms considered abandonware? :|

50-50ish, more like 25-75 my money and my brothers money. And another 100% or so yar.

I buy the COOL ones with COOL Multiplayer and pirate the COOL ones without COOL multiplayer.

I pirate music, movies and TV shows, but not games. Dunno why. Guess I support that industry more than the other three.

I do pirate PC games, but because my computer is shit we're not looking at much above emulators and the likes.

I do what I want because a pirate is free!

Once I get a job I'll buy all my games though. I only pirate because im broke.

I "test" most of the games before i buy them.
Most of my recent games were bought through Steam.I stopped purchasing retail copy's since they discontinued packaging games in those good ol' cardboard boxes.I usually buy them from Newegg.com or Gogamer.com if there's no other choice then to get a retail copy.

I usually buy them (retail or Steam).

Unless it's old, or a game I'm really not sure about.

I buy them and I almost always regret it. But they are all usually great for a little while at least. Not worth it though.

a games worth buying would be like GTA IV, or perhaps Condemned 2, things like that. I don't think I would regret it.

I've never pirated a PC game, but I did download as many Roms as I could, and tried many of them once or a few times. Not sure why I did it then.

One reason is that I wanted to reminisce about old console games I used to have or play.

Another reason is to see the games that I never saw for those old consoles that were the beginning of what was to come.

Also for reference.

So I don't forget them.

For the past year or so, I don't have time to play any games, so it really doesn't make sense that I keep buying them, but for a good new game, I make some time. When I get bored, I stop, and usually never go back.

However, I spend a lot of time bullshitting here that I could be playing a game, but lately I'd rather bullshit.

Yeah... feeding a game habit is expensive. I don't know if some remember the thread, but when I posted it my brothers ebgames account was like 4000 dollars spent. That's probably doubled now. Can't buy every single game we want, but we try.

I get my OWN games by paying for them. I never pirate them personally.
I receive games that aren't mine from my brother who pirates them.

Seems legit enough.
