How do you turn water reflection OFF completely?

I seem to be having poor fps during the Highway 17 section. There's one part with fog, a lot of open areas, a broken bridge and stuff. That's when I only have lik 28ish fps.

I have a 3.2G cpu with 1G pc3200 ram and a 6800GT 256mb vcard. I think my computer is more than enough for this game, but it still sucks at this point. The water seem to be lagging me down. Does anyone know how to turn off water reflection completely?

Strange.... I have a p4 1.6ghz, 512 ddr ram, 128mb geforce ti4800se system, and didn't notice any extra slow down on that bridge...

I doubt simple water reflections would be slowing you down all that much, it's more likely the highly detailed bridge supports all over the place, as there is a lot of geometry visible in that area... You could try turning texture and model detail down, or even running HL2 in dx8 mode for that level...

No, not the bridge but before that. That's a spot where there's a crane and you have to use it to knock down the bridge so you can pass with the buggy. You also have to use the magnet thingy on the crane to lift the buggy up on the platforms. There's a broken bridge in that area, some smoke or fog, water around the area, and hella ant lions running around.

That was when I had like 28-40ish fps. Everywhere else is like at least 50+
