I chose not to post this in the other thread, because I feel it would not be appropriate.

Anywhoo, they probably won't continue with the Viral marketing campaign for The Joker, but do you think the film will be pushed back?

The movie is in post-production now. I doubt it would get delayed.

I fear it may affect the future films but not the "Dark Knight" as it is finished. Unless you count marketing and advertising, and I do not.

Still a tragedy though:(

As much as I'll sound the douche for saying it, it would be a poor business strategy for them to delay the film. Releasing it soon while Heath is still in the news will get some of his fans to go and see "the last movie he ever starred in."

I've heard that they were going to use the Joker in both films, but Heath was so amazing as the joker that they may just write him out of the third movie instead of recasting the role.

I don't think the third movie's script is done, on account of the writer's strike.

True...though how long did they delay the Aaliyah film after she died?

It'll change the dynamic of the third movie quite a lot, since apparently the Joker isn't even the focus of this movie.

He has completed his work long ago according to Ain't it cool news,so he could start working on the new Terry Gilliam movie. They shot a lot of scenes of him but his role is probably gonna have to be recast now.

I think they'll include a special something for him in the credits. It's the least they should do.

cool, Tom Waits is in that Gilliam movie, hopefully it wont be canned altogether

they should move the dark knight series to the frank miller era; batman is older and so is joker; perfect opportunity to recast ..but a senior citizen batman doesnt sell toys

I don't think it'll affect TDK too much, but later ones will probably have to do without the Joker :(

It really depends on how they handle it in this film. If they kill the Joker off then it obviously won't have any impact at all, and this is very possible as Nolan said that Harvey Dent would be the main focus of the third film while the Joker is the main focus on this one.

But seeing as his role was entirely finished, it shouldn't have any effect whatsoever unless they feel the need to re-edit it or delay it because of his death.

I don't see them delaying the film past it's scheduled release date.

They'll likely do the same thing all other movies (that I've seen) do, which is something along the lines of:

In Memory of <name>
<birth date> - <death date>

I thought it was the other way around. Harvey is the focus of this movie and the Joker was the focus of the third.

Well the whole approach to the new Batman films is to not kill off the villains in each movie. So I mean joker shouldn't be killed in the movie, and I won't spoil some of the movie of what he does in TDK since I don't know if everyone knows or not. But he really isn't needed for a third one, I'll just put it that way. Though, I wish Heath was still alive for maybe a cameo in the 3rd. :(

He started work on another movie, so he was done with filming for TDK, so I doubt they will be delaying the movie, if anything they will want to get it out and dedicate it to him. :)

The Joker has been the most prominent element of this movie's hype. How have you missed this? =\

Because of what the star of the film says.

Chris Nolan said:
"Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film. The Joker, he sort of cuts through the film -- he's got no story arc, he's just a force of nature tearing through. Heath has given an amazing performance in the role, it's really extraordinary."

he's got you there

good article on the movies Ledger was involved in ..seems the Gilliam movie was already shot so it will see release

this is sad:

Gilliam had become close during the making of Gilliam's "The Brothers Grimm" and Ledger had plans to become a feature director himself, several sources have reported. The actor had directed a handful of music videos, including one for Ben Harper, with whom he formed a record company.

Last month, Gilliam told Variety, "He's going to be a much better director than I will ever be."

As far as I know, Harvey Dent will be a significant character in the film, but the main antagonist through the film will be Joker. Two-Face will arise as a result of whatever happens between Joker and Batman.

Aaliyah's movie was about to hit the screen when she died...they delayed it a couple months...

Oh Terry, don't be silly. Ledger was a good actor but I wouldn't of thought he had a better mind than that of the person who directed such a film like Brazil.

What? Terry worked with the guy. How well did you know him? -.-

No actually it needed a few scenes shot again, so they had to find a double to do it. Thus it was delayed for a little bit.

Yeah, but it's a whole different kettle of fish with the two personalities. I know we've not had the pleasure to see any of Ledger's ideas and writings, but he just doesn't seem the sort of guy to be as original and creative as Terry. There's really nothing more to it, I said ''I wouldn't of thought...'' afterall. Who knows? Maybe he would of, but if you ask me, Terry is a stand-out director who would be pretty hard to top. Something inside me just can't imagine Heath writing or directing something so original and creative as Brazil. Maybe it's because I've seen him do so many dull - yet well acted - pretty boy roles that forces my opinion of him to not even come close to someone like Terry.

Like I said, maybe he might of.
